Hygge Themed Seasonal Scents Candle Pouring Party - November 9

Residents are invited to gather in The Boulevard clubhouse for a two-hour celebration of candles, the fall and winter seasons and the Hygge lifestyle!

Hygge (pronounced hyoo-guh) is a Scandinavian concept that encompasses a feeling of coziness, contentment, and a deep sense of well-being. Small, inmate gatherings play an important role in the Hygge lifestyle. And so do candles! There’s science behind the soothing effect of candles. The soft, flickering light mimics the natural glow of the sun, which helps trigger the brain’s relaxation responses. The right scents engage the brain’s emotional hub, leading to feelings of nostalgia, calm, happiness.

After months of severe hurricanes and stress, doesn't that sound good? 

You will craft your own clean-burning coconut wax wood wick candle, adorned with Czech glass and seed beads. Choose from a wide range of seasonal fall and winter fragrances and 8 oz satin bubble tins in fall and winter colors. 

With gatherings limited to a small number of people, you'll enjoy an intimate setting as you learn about the magic of Hygge, a Scandinavian concept of coziness, contentment, and well-being, the history of candles and key terms like “candle throw,” “melt pool,” and “fragrance notes.”

You will learn about the various types of candle waxes and fragrances, learn how to calculate the amount of wax and fragrance needed, selecting the right wick, and understand the importance of mixing, pouring temperatures,
