The unofficial Galentine's holiday is Feb 13, on the eve of Valentine's Day. It was first introduced on a 2010 episode of Parks and Recreation. Amy Poehler's character, Leslie Knope, invented a holiday to celebrate sisterhood.
"It's like Lilith Fair, minus the angst. Plus frittatas."
Throwing a brunch at your favorite restaurant to celebrate your BFF's isn't very practical during a pandemic.
So why not throw a virtual Galentine's Brunch?
You don't need to be all Martha-Stewartesque like Leslie was, with her Goodie Bags of hand-crocheted flower pens, a mosaic portrait of each of them made from the crushed bottles of their favorite diet soda and a 5,000-word essay detailing the awesomeness of each friend to make it memorable.
You could send them a simple card, with the one attribute inscribed inside that you most admire about them to be opened during the virtual brunch.
So, a little Zoom or Duo chat, some cards to open, some champagne and OJ, and waffles.
"We need to remember what’s important in life: friends, waffles and work. Or waffles, friends, work. Doesn’t matter, but work is third."
So next Saturday, make it a brunch date with your BFF's (Best Female Friends) for waffles.
With chocolate syrup.
And strawberries.
If you're looking for a really thoughtful gift for your BFF, we've got you covered!
