We are currently closed due to flood damage to our studio. We hope to resume operating on April 13.
“What Doesn't Kill You Makes You Stronger"
In 2006, I was diagnosed with MS and forced to leave my corporate job. However, I bounced back and started Island Thyme Soap Company. I am also the primary caregiver for my husband, who was diagnosed with mild dementia in 2020, just before his 60th birthday. Change is always hard on dementia patients, and I'm doing my best to keep a routine.
It's hard to keep me down.
Unfortunately, this small home-based soap and candle business recently experienced a major setback when a water line break caused significant flooding in our home, including my studio. I have been forced to temporarily shut down the business, and we are currently staying in a hotel (with all three cats) until we can move to a new place on April 10.
The house will need a major renovation, including replacing all the hardwood floors, and kitchen and bath cabinets. It will take approximately six months. My heart is broken. We must move.
I am eagerly waiting to hear more from my insurance adjuster. The loss of damage assessment for the furnishings and business supplies stand at about 35k. I am eagerly waiting to hear from my insurance adjuster but in the meantime, I need your help. I need to hire moving help and replenish operating supplies and that can't wait for the insurance adjuster.
I take pride in our Giving Back program that sends 10% of every sale to those in need. Now it's my turn to have to ask for help. It's not easy.
I am reaching out for support during this challenging time. Any amount you can contribute will go directly towards covering our immediate expenses, such as the cost of moving, lodging, and replenishing business supplies. If you can't contribute financially, I'll take all your prayers, positive thoughts and good joo joo you can send me.
Your generosity will help us keep my small business afloat and continue to bring joy to our customers.
Thank you for considering supporting my small business during this difficult time. Your contribution, no matter how small, will make a significant difference in helping us get back on our feet.
Thank you for your kindness and generosity.
