Our favorite Chef, humanitarian and founder of World Chef Kitchen José Andrés has been on the ground since Feb 24 with Chefs For Ukraine to provide hot nourishing meals for refugees along Ukraine's border.
The UN estimates over 1.3 million Ukrainians have fled their homes since the invasion began. Most of them are women and children who travel for days without food.
The work began with at a 24-hour pedestrian border crossing in southern Poland. WCK then expanded his operations to eight border crossings across the country. Additionally, they are supporting local restaurants preparing meals in eight Ukrainian cities including in Odessa, Lviv, and Kyiv. WCK teams are now also on the ground in Romania, Moldova, and Hungary.
