Auld Lang Syne
The holiday season reminds of of all we have to be thankful for: our friends, family, and the joy and kindnesses we share with loved ones and strangers alike during this time of year. The spirit of the season is about far more than the beautiful lights, decoration and extravegant feasts. What brings us happiness as adults is focusing more on what we have, and not what we want. As the Dr Seuss charachter in The Grinch reminded us:
"He puzzled and puzzled till his puzzler was sore. Then the Grinch thought of something he hadn't before. Maybe Christmas, he thought...doesn't come from a store. Maybe Christmas, perhaps...means a little bit more!"
It's the simple kindness we extend to each other. It's the spirit of giving that really counts.
It's another new year at Island Thyme Soap Company
On New Years Eve our thoughts turned gratefully to our customers who made it possible for Island Thyme Soap Company to continuing doing what we love. One New Years Day we began to look forward to new exciting opportunities to make the coming year better than the last one. We want to keep that spirit of giving alive.
If you have followed us on social media, you know we have long been supporters of Big Cat Rescue in Tampa.
Last year we began our "You Shop. We Give." program in early September soon after our beloved Abaco Islands and Grand Bahama Island were devistated by Dorian, a CAT 5 hurricane that slammed into them with sustained winds of 185 miles per hour, the strongest storm to ever hit the Bahamas. At least 70 people were killed. The destruction is catastrophic. The recovery will take years.
So we partnered with Project HOPE, Team Rubicon and World Central Kitchen Inc. to give shoppers the ability to conveniently donate 10% of that purchase at checkout to those relief organizations making a big difference on the ground in the Bahamas.
Then we started to think...well, Thanksgiving is coming. What about those in CA who had lost everything to the four major wildfires and what about people in need of a warm meal, what about the local food pantries at Thanksgiving. So we added Metropolitan Ministries to address families in need of hope and a warm Thanksgiving meal right here in Tampa Bay and continued to partner World Central KItchen, Inc who's team had already served 50k meals in response to four CA wildfires that began burning in early October.
By that time...it was Giving Tuesday and we partnered with Make-A-Wish® Foundation and Fisher House
And then it hit us.
What Giving Tuesday Gets Wrong.
It's just one day. So we made it more of a "Giving Month."
Now that the New Year is here and we just can't stop.
Our "You Shop. We Give" will be a permanent feature for 2020.
Anytime you shop Island Thyme Soap Company's products, we'll give 10% of that purchase to a cause that's a passion of ours, or one that is a passion of yours during checkout at no extra cost to you, 365 days a year.
In other words, during the checkout process, you have the opportunity to choose a cause to benefit from your purchase. Together we can keep the spirit of giving alive the entire year. It's all automated and seamless and you don't need to share any private information with the cause you choose to donate to.
At Island Thyme Soap Company we believe in sharing our values with our customers as well as sharing the giving experience. Click on over to the "How We Are Giving Back" page for all the details and to see how it works.
