It’s no secret that spending time at the beach makes people happier and improves their physical and mental health. There is nothing more relaxing than a colorful beach sunset and walking barefooted while listening to the sound of the waves. In fact,  research published by the NIH demonstrates the relaxing effects on the senses from the swell’s ebb and flow actually changes our brain waves’ frequency and puts us into a mild meditative state. The smell of the ocean also contributes to your feeling of beach bliss. This may have something to do with the negative ions in the sea air that you’re breathing in. A  study published in the Journal of Alternative Complementary Medicine suggests that negative ion therapy could even be used to treat symptoms of seasonal affective disorder.

Lavender Fields Coconut Milk Soap

Lower Carbon Footprint.

The carbon footprint in general is 25% more for liquid cleansers than bar soap. Yet consumers use almost 7 times more liquid soap or body wash than bar soap. Science Advances reports that an estimated 6.3 billion tons of plastic waste have been produced globally since 1995, but only 9% was recycled, as 12% was incinerated and the other 79% ending up in nature or landfills.

"Body wash" is likely to be a liquid detergent packed with drying chemicals, artificial surfactants, and preservatives that when rinsed off, get washed down the drain. Some of these chemicals aren’t biodegradable and end up seeping into the groundwater, lakes and streams, where they could pose a risk to fish and frogs.

True soap is rapidly degraded. In addition to a lighter carbon footprint, there are so many reasons to love a good bar of handcrafted soap made with only plant-based oils and butters, and, contrary to popular opinion, true soap bars are scientifically proven to be more sanitary to use than plastic bottles!

Did you know that coconut milk creates natural foam? Our raw ingredients are never tested on animals, ethically sourced with care from producers with a commitment to sustainable practices. Our palm oil is sourced from an organic farm in South America and certified sustainable.

Artisan crafted soap from Island Thyme Soap Company is a great way to gently cleanse your skin of dirt and bacteria and with minimal packaging is much a better choice for eco-conscious consumers.
