Avocado Oil for Skin, Hair and Nutrition

Cold pressed avocado oil is chock full of beneficial properties. Full of vitamins A, B, D, E, K, folate, protein, potassium, phytonutrients, and lecithin, it also contains amino acids, sterols, pantothenic acid, and essential fatty acids making it an ideal more and natural moisturizer for your skin and hair.

Look a little closer at the ingredients list of the skin care products you're using and you might see petrochemical derived additives like propylene glycol, cyclomethicone, petrolatum and methylparaben. These additives can actually irritate the skin.

Why not ditch the pretrochemical additives and use a simple one simple natural oil to hydrate and moisturize your skin and hair?

Skin

You can apply avocado oil to your face in the same way you would any other moisturizer. Just make sure to use are clean fingers! Wash your face well and while the skin is still damp simply apply and gently spread the oil. While individual results will vary, avocado oil is extremely good at hydrating the skin.  It is also often recommended as an effective treatment for acne and blackheads, eczema and other forms of skin inflammation. It has even been reported to be beneficial for diminishing age spots and smoothing out fine lines and wrinkles.

Hair

Slowly heat 3-5 tablespoons each of avocado and extra virgin coconut oil to a comfortable temperature and gently massage it in to freshly washed hair. Wrap your head in a very warm towel and leave for fifteen to twenty minutes. You can also add a few drops of essential oil if you have some, like rosemary or lavender.  Wash out as you would any hot oil treatment and you're good to go! No need for any silicone containing conditioner to achieve softness and shine!

Nutrition

Researchshows avocado oil has many of the same health benefits as olive oil. It has a very HIGH smoke point, higher than most cooking oils. When an oil reaches its smoke point, it begins to change chemically. Not only does this chemical change affect the flavor, it can create toxins and free radicals which are harmful to health.  A 3.5 oz serving contains 160calories, 2 grams ofprotein and 15 grams of healthy fats. Although it contains 9 grams of carbs, 7 of those are fiber so there are only 2 “net” carbs, making this alow-carb friendly plant food.

So even if you don't notice significant improvement in your skin and hair, you haven't wasted any money. You can still make a killer salad dressing!
