In wine, the skin and seeds are part of the fermenting process, but both are removed when making grape juice."\nThe antioxidant properties of wine polyphenols lead to enhanced wound healing, anti cancer effects, kidney protection, lowered cataract risk, decreases cardiac risk, and improves cardiac event survival. There is an emerging consensus that the risk of Alzheimer's disease may be reduced by up to 80% by regular consumption of a glass or two of red wine with dinner.\nFrom an antiaging point of view, drinking a glass of red wine a day is the single most important thing that you can do other than nonsmoking according to Richard A. However drinking more than recommended can have the opposite effect on your appearance and health.\nPeople who can't drink wine should such look to richly hued fruits like pomegranates and blueberries, vegetables and whole grains. Rich colors such as reds and purples or black indicate that plant foods are excellent sources of polyphenols\nOr go for dark chocolate. The saturated fat in chocolate should not raise bad cholesterol when consumed in moderation.\nAnd one more fun fact that Dr Baxter relates, for wine drinkers anyway, is that researchers found wine drinkers had a 30 point higher IQ than beer or spirits drinkers. So at the next party or event, before walking up to a stranger and engaging in conversation, take a moment to scope out their drink of choice. Go for the red wine drinker.
